This album has an urgent, rushed feel that sharply contrasts with its other polished elements and it was a huge turning point for U2. The quality of songwriting is also enhanced by the Edge’s textured guitar onslaught.
The Fly is a clear high point and classics like Mysterious Ways and One are worth the price alone.
This album also spawned the epic Zoo TV Tour and reinvented the band, so it’s safe to say it was influential. I also like the way Bono refers to it as being 'the sound of four men chopping down the Joshua Tree'.
