It's a safe bet that you've probably had to endure some awful nights where you just can't turn off your mind when you really need to sleep. Have you ever tried just getting up and writing down everything that's bothering you though, as it can really make a difference?
All you have to do is keep a simple note pad in your room and if you can't sleep, just grab it and let everything out.
You'll be surprised at what a difference it makes. If you can, try an move to another room while you do this as well to give yourself a fresh start when you return to your bed.
Writing things down gives your mind a natural place marker and it should allow it to naturally move on and settle down.
Try to use an ordinary notepad if you can as well, as using a digital device without a 'night mode' in this situation could make you feel even more awake. You should also keep reminding yourself that your mind and your body are far from their best after a long day, so there's a good chance you'll look at the problem a lot differently in the morning when you're refreshed.
